Allergic dad finds an illegally smol void kitten in the middle of the street, but saying goodbye may be the hardest part

Tiny kittens have a way of making even the most logical plans fall apart.

One family learned that the hard way after finding an illegally smol little void sitting alone in the middle of the street. The kitten couldn't have been much older than a few weeks, and there wasn't much debate about what to do next. Even though the rescuer is allergic to cats, leaving the tiny feline behind was never an option. Before long, kitten formula, a feeding syringe, and everything else needed to care for such a young baby had already been picked up.

That says just about everything.

The family's child shared that they grew up with cats, so bringing another one into the house wasn't exactly unfamiliar territory. These days it's just the parents at home, which makes the whole situation even harder. The plan is to find the little void a loving forever home, but anyone who's bottle-fed a kitten knows how quickly "just until we find someone" can turn into something much more permanent.

Making things even more tempting, the person sharing the story already has three cats waiting back at their own two-bedroom apartment. Taking in another one isn't exactly practical... but there's one problem. Their feline family doesn't include a black cat. As every cat person knows, that's a dangerous realization when an impossibly tiny void suddenly appears.

The Cat Distribution System has a way of testing people's self-control. One minute you're telling yourself you're only helping for the night. The next you're buying formula, learning how to bottle-feed, and catching yourself wondering where a fourth food bowl would fit. Whether this little void stays with the rescuers or charms a brand-new family, it already accomplished one thing. It reminded everyone just how impossible it is to resist a kitten that small.

  • Funny how allergies always seem a little less important once a tiny kitten starts drinking from a bottle and falling asleep in your hand. Plenty of families have started out saying, "We just need to find it a home," only to realize a few days later that the kitten already found one. Not saying that's what's going to happen here... but this little void definitely seems to know exactly what it's doing.

  • At that size, a cat carrier almost feels unnecessary. Just scoop the little void up, tuck it into a pocket, and you're good to go. Half the time they'd probably be happier there anyway. It's crazy how something small enough to fit in one hand can somehow take up your entire heart before you've even made it back to the car.

An orange troublemaker, a fluffy cloud, a tuxedo, a tabby, a calico... and of course, at least one tiny void to round everything out. It's like trying to complete a very cute set that somehow keeps expanding. The problem is, the Cat Distribution System seems to know exactly which model you're missing, and it has a habit of delivering one when your house is already full.
